Abstract:

Snapshot photograph album compiled by Chinese American pilot Fook Sam Fong of the U.S. Army Air Forces, while training at Williams Field, Arizona during the second world war. Photographs chiefly depict Fong and his fellow cadets, many of them also likely Chinese Americans, during off-duty leisure activities on base or sightseeing at various locations in Arizona. Also includes a series of commercial views of the Grand Canyon and other Arizona points of interest. Includes a few photographs that may have been taken during the war in an unidentified location in Asia, and a newspaper clipping referring to a wartime injury of Fook's brother Chew F. Fong sustained in Belgium; to another brother, Henry R. Fong; and stating that Fook was serving in the Signal Corps along the Ledo Road in Asia.
